Medical conditions requiring specialist dietary advice
Fuelbetter does not yet cater for medical conditions requiring specialist dietary advice. For example, Fuelbetter may not be right for you if you suffer from Crohn's disease, haemochromatosis, diabetes, food allergies, diagnosed nutrient deficiencies, or certain other conditions; if you are on a special diet following surgery; or if you have been advised by your doctor or medical professional to follow a special diet or have been prescribed to meet nutrient intake targets that differ from the RDA.

Again, please consult with your doctor before using the app.

How we calculate your unique nutrient requirements.

Your unique nutrient requirements are estimates only, and are calculated based on the most recent research & position statements relating to human nutrition requirements published by the U.S. Institute of Medicine (IOM), a division of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine. The IOM is responsible for establishing nutrition requirements for Canada and the United States of America, and its research and findings are leveraged by many other public health authorities worldwide to establish nutrition requirements for citizens of their respective countries.  The IOM's dietary reference publications are available online here.

Fuelbetter's nutrient requirements calculator was developed with input from our team of Registered Dietitians (RDs). RDs are professionally certified to set nutrient goals for individuals that are safe and consistent with current scientific research.

How Auto-suggest provides tailored recommendations.

Auto-suggest, Fuelbetter's digital nutritionist, works by finding the mathematically most efficient route for you to fill your remaining nutrient requirements for the day.

If you choose a pace of change of "None", Auto-suggest makes no recommendations -- it just replays prior meals for you, making it easier for you to complete your diary.

If you choose a pace of change of "Slow", you are telling Auto-suggest to make recommendations that only partly fill your remaining nutrient requirements for the day.

If you choose a pace of change of "Fast", you are asking Auto-suggest to make recommendations that fill as many as possible of your remaning nutrient requirements for the date.
